Subscriptions For Next Season Will Go On Sale Monday Morning!

A limited number of seats for The Richmond Forum's 2010-2011 season will go on sale to new subscribers this Monday, May 3rd, at 9AM. Please be sure to mark your calendar as we expect to sell out very quickly. This blog post contains everything you need to know to ensure that you get your seats for what promises to be a fascinating season at The Richmond Forum.

Seat Availability
  • Rear Balcony: 400 seats ($155 each for the five program season)
  • Front Balcony: 80 seats with only 26 pairs ($190 each)
  • Grand Tier & Orchestra: 54 scattered singles, no pairs ($240 each)

How to Subscribe
  • Online: The easiest and quickest way will be to subscribe online Monday morning at 9AM.
  • Phone (804) 330-3993: Because we have a small staff and only three phone lines, this will be a slower way to purchase your subscription. Our phone lines will be very busy. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to return voicemail messages in a timely fashion, so please keep calling until you reach a staff member. However, we do highly recommend that you purchase your subscription online as we will assign the best available seats in the order that orders are received, whether online or by phone.

David Blaine Pushes the Limits of the Human Body

Read a great Q & A with David Blaine from TIME magazine. Blaine is variously known as a street magician, illusionist, and endurance artist. When he comes to The Richmond Forum on April 16, 2011, he will go in depth on the topics he touches on in this article: the genesis of his ideas, his research, and the intense training he undertakes to prepare his body for the unbelievable physical feats he attempts, like holding his breath under water for over seventeen minutes!

Tony Blair Announces Partnership with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

Today a former Richmond Forum speaker and a future Richmond Forum speaker are in the news together.

In this week's TIME magazine, former Prime Minister Tony Blair details how his Africa Governance Initiative will be working with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia to "improve the way government works." Blair calls Sirleaf "one of Africa's most inspiring and visionary leaders" and writes that "the progress being achieved in Liberia is a testament to the resolve of the Liberian people."

President Sirleaf will kick off the 25th season of The Richmond Forum on November 6, 2010. Season subscriptions go on sale May 3rd.

Anderson Cooper in Outside Magazine

Anderson CooperThe April issue of Outside magazine includes Anderson Cooper among its "Adventure Icons." According to the preface, "In an era when everything has supposedly been done, these adventure icons ignore convention, court risk, and let their passion lead the way."

You can read the full interview with Anderson Cooper online, in which he talks about his recent coverage of the earthquake in Haiti and the risks inherent with this style of reporting.

Anderson Cooper will be the February speaker at The Richmond Forum next season. Available season subscriptions will go on sale May 3rd.
